UK High Court Ordered Adil Raja to Pay £50,000, Along with an Interim Costs Payment

11 December, 2025 14:52

The UK High Court has ruled against Adil Raja in a high-profile libel case, ordering him to pay £50,000 in damages to Rashid Naseer. In addition, Raja must make an interim costs payment of £260,000 and cover full legal expenses.

The Court found that Raja made defamatory allegations against Mr. Naseer in June 2022 without any lawful defence. As part of the judgment, Raja is required to publish a Court-approved apology across all his media platforms for 28 days, pinned at the top of each platform.

A strict injunction has been issued, barring Raja from repeating or implying a wide range of allegations concerning Mr. Naseer. These include claims related to the 2022 Punjab elections, alleged meetings, rigging, misuse of authority, corruption, or threats. The Court warned that any violation of this order could lead to contempt proceedings, including fines or imprisonment.

All payments, including damages and interim costs, must be completed by 22 December 2025.

This landmark ruling reinforces the UK courts’ stance on protecting individuals from defamatory statements, particularly in the digital media sphere.
