NADRA Launches Special Service for Pakistanis Living in Saudi Arabia

17 December, 2025 20:55

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a special facility for Pakistani citizens living in Saudi Arabia to improve access to identity-related services.

As part of the initiative, a NADRA mobile registration team is visiting Saudi Arabia in coordination with the Pakistan Embassy to provide on-the-spot services to overseas Pakistanis.

According to NADRA, the mobile service will be available in Dammam on December 19 and 20, 2025 (Friday and Saturday), from 8:00am to 3:00pm local time, at Tamimi New Camp, Dhahran, Eastern Province.

The authority stated that the initiative is aimed at making registration and documentation services more accessible by offering multiple facilities at a single, convenient location for overseas Pakistanis.

Services being provided include the issuance of new Smart National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (Smart NICOP), renewals and reprints, DUP clearance, changes in Smart NICOP details, Smart NICOP cancellation, and Family Registration Certificate (FRC) services.

In a separate development, an overseas Pakistani who was wrongly declared dead in NADRA records has returned to Pakistan and sought legal recourse after allegedly being defrauded by his own family.

Imran Malik filed a petition before the Sindh High Court (SHC), claiming that his family used a fake death certificate to have him officially recorded as deceased in order to seize his property. According to the fabricated document, Malik was declared dead in April 2024.

The case was heard by Justice Abdul Mobeen Lakho, who questioned how the petitioner was able to return to Pakistan if he had been officially declared dead in government records.

Malik’s lawyer informed the court that his passport had not been cancelled, which allowed him to travel back to Pakistan. However, he is now unable to return abroad due to the blockage of his identity documents.

The petitioner’s counsel further told the court that Malik, who had been living overseas, returned to Pakistan in October after four years. The issue came to light when he attempted to open a bank account and was informed that his identity card had been blocked. Upon contacting NADRA, he discovered that he had been officially declared dead earlier in 2024.

The court is hearing the matter to determine responsibility and provide relief to the petitioner.
