Nation Is Locked in Total War With the West: Iran President Pezeshkian

28 December, 2025 13:28

TEHRAN: Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, has warned that his nation is in a “total war” with the United States, Israel, and European nations, claiming that the pressure on Tehran is unparalleled in both extent and intensity.

According to Iranian official media, President Pezeshkian claimed that Western countries were striving to subjugate Iran on several fronts. He maintained that the current conflict is significantly more complicated than a traditional military standoff.

“This is a full-scale conflict… According to Pezeshkian, they aim to bring Iran to its knees.

The Iranian leader added that the current situation is significantly more complicated than the Iran-Iraq conflict of the 1980s, but he did draw a comparison between the two. According to Pezeshkian, Iran is currently under continual assault on all fronts—economic, political, cultural, and national security—in contrast to the previous fight, which included distinct battle lines and direct missile exchanges.

“We knew where the attacks were coming from and how to respond during the war with Iraq,” he stated. “The siege is coming from all sides today.”

Pezeshkian maintained that Iran’s military capabilities had improved despite the increasing pressure, especially in light of the brief but fierce conflict with Israel earlier this year. He asserted that Iran’s armed forces are now more equipped and manned, and he threatened to respond more forcefully to any future attacks.

Following the June air battle, which started with Israeli strikes and swiftly intensified, tensions throughout the region are still high. According to Iranian sources, the combat claimed the lives of around 1,000 Iranians, including nuclear experts and high-ranking military personnel. Numerous Israelis were killed in retaliatory Iranian missile attacks.

According to local sources, the interview with Pezeshkian was made public before US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are supposed to meet in Florida next week.

When President Trump declared on June 22 that US forces had attacked important Iranian nuclear facilities, including those at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, the situation became even more dire. At the time, Trump said that the operation’s goals were to neutralize what he called a significant security danger and destroy Iran’s nuclear enrichment program.

Iran has sought to minimize the long-term effects of the strikes, despite warnings from Washington that the conflict with Western powers is about to enter a more complex and hazardous phase.
