Crans-Montana Fire: Deadly New Year’s Blaze at Swiss Ski Resort Kills 10

Shocking footage shows ambulances rushing to a deadly fire that broke out at a bar in the Swiss Alps during New Year’s celebrations.

At least 10 people were killed, and several others injured when the blaze erupted around 1:30 a.m. local time (12:30 a.m. GMT) in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, authorities confirmed. More than 100 people were inside the bar—a popular spot within a ski resort frequented by international tourists—when the incident occurred, and officials fear the death toll could rise.

Initial reports indicate that pyrotechnics used during the event may have triggered an explosion, spreading the fire throughout the building. Police confirmed that the incident is not being treated as terror-related.

In newly released footage, a massive emergency response can be seen, with police, ambulances, and fire services arriving at the scene. Images shared online show people fleeing through windows as flames engulfed the 300-capacity bar.

Police spokesperson Gaëtan Lathion said, “The fire started around 1:30 a.m. this morning in a bar called ‘Le Constellation. More than a hundred people were in the building, and we are seeing many injured and many dead.”

A reception center and helpline have been set up for affected families. Lathion added, “We’re just at the beginning of our investigation, but this is an internationally renowned ski resort with lots of tourists.”

The fire was brought under control by early morning. Authorities confirmed that the area remains cordoned off, with a temporary no-fly zone over Crans-Montana to allow air ambulances to transport the injured to hospitals. Local hospitals in French-speaking Switzerland have reportedly been overwhelmed with burn victims. One doctor urged the public to avoid “risky” activities on New Year’s Day to ease pressure on emergency services.
