World Rejects Taliban Narrative Amid Diplomatic Isolation in 2025
The Afghan representative to the UN office in Geneva has formally rejected the self-proclaimed success of the Taliban regime, asserting that their strained international relations and the rise of terrorism are the direct results of flawed policies rather than achievements.
These criticisms are echoed by local media, with The Kabul Tribune highlighting a report by Afghan correspondent Nasir Ahmad Andisha in The Diplomat.
Andisha argues that the regime’s declaration of 2025 as a year of success is factually incorrect and misleading, characterizing the year instead as one defined by global isolation and strategic failure.
According to Andisha, the Taliban regime has not only alienated its former allies but has also suffered a complete loss of international legitimacy and credibility. This isolation is compounded by heightened tensions with neighboring countries, including Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran.
Furthermore, the International Criminal Court’s issuance of arrest warrants for senior Taliban commanders for crimes against humanity highlights the regime’s legal and ethical standing on the world stage.
Observers note that the regime’s incompetence has jeopardized the stability of the Afghan nation-state, depriving the public—and women in particular—of basic human rights. Ultimately, analysts argue that the Taliban cannot sustain their rule through baseless claims, as their current governance continues to push the country into a deeper crisis.
