Iran Declares Full-Fledged War If Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei Attacked
TEHRAN: Iran has issued a warning to the United States, stating that any assault on Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s supreme leader, would be grounds for full-scale conflict.
In a message posted on the social networking site X (previously Twitter), Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga declared that any illegitimate aggression would be met with terrible and regrettable consequences.
According to him, attacking the Supreme Leader would actually be a declaration of full-scale war against Iran.
The declaration followed recent remarks made by US President Donald Trump, who had issued dire warnings about a crackdown on Iranian protestors and the possibility of executions.
The Iranian leadership vehemently objected to Trump’s statement that “it is time to bring new leadership to Iran” in an interview with Politico on Saturday.
The Iranian president also claimed that long-standing enmity and sanctions have made life more difficult for the Iranian people and blamed the US and its allies for the nation’s protracted economic crisis.
