Mirjana Pajković Snimak: Political Scandal and Video Leak That Rocked Montenegro

29 January, 2026 12:49

In January 2026, Montenegro’s human rights director Mirjana Pajković and presidential advisor Dejan Vukšić resigned amid a storm over leaked private videos. Pajković claims she is a victim of “revenge p*rn” and blackmail, while Vukšić alleges phone theft. The controversy triggered a massive surge in searches for terms like “Mirjana Pajković video” and “Mirjana Pajković snimak.”

The political fallout began when intimate footage involving Pajković started circulating across social media and encrypted messaging apps. By January 23, both officials resigned from their government positions, citing “personal reasons.” However, the focus quickly shifted to their public accusations. Pajković stated she was blackmailed and threatened before the release of the videos, with some calls traced to government offices, including President Jakov Milatović’s office. She shared transcripts and audio proof, which allegedly show Vukšić warning her: “You will come sooner or later.”

Vukšić, on the other hand, denied distributing the videos, claiming the recordings were taken out of context and over a year old. He also alleged Pajković had “stolen and misused” his phone in late 2024.

The leak caused a spike in Google searches across the Balkans for “Mirjana Pajković video” and “Mirjana Pajković snimak,” highlighting the viral nature of the scandal. Human rights advocates have condemned the public shaming and called for stronger legal protections against non-consensual intimate imagery. Montenegrin female MPs also criticized the attempt to discredit Pajković through attacks on her private life.

The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica has launched an investigation into the origin and distribution of the intimate material, reviewing potential violations of privacy and blackmail allegations.

Mirjana Pajković is a Montenegrin lawyer and former senior official who served as Director General of the Directorate for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms. She has been active in gender equality and vulnerable group advocacy, representing Montenegro at international forums like the Council of Europe. Prior to her government role, Pajković practiced law in criminal, civil, and administrative cases, gaining recognition for her principled legal interventions. She was also previously involved in politics as a member of Civic Movement URA before resigning over ideological differences.
