30 January, 2026 16:46

As Washington continues to threaten Tehran militarily, President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Iran opposes threats and coercion and is dedicated to communication, respect for one another, and win-win diplomacy.

During a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, Pezeshkian made the statement while discussing the escalating tensions in the region and cautioning against aggressive and war-driven activities.

The Iranian and Turkish presidents discussed current events in the region and stressed the importance of diplomatic, interaction-based, and dialogue-centered methods to conflict resolution.

According to a statement from the Iranian president’s office, they also demanded that no provocative, tense, or belligerent actions be taken in the area.

Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s principled approach of conducting “dignified diplomacy” within the parameters of international norms and regulations throughout the call.

According to him, Iran’s strategy is founded on communication, respect for one another, rejection of threats and the use of force, and adherence to a win-win logic.

The Iranian president pointed out that building mutual confidence is necessary for the development of successful diplomatic and dialogue-driven initiatives. He continued by saying that the demonstration of goodwill by pertinent parties and the cessation of aggressive and menacing acts in the region are necessary for any diplomatic attempt to succeed.

The two presidents also noted out the importance of regional cooperation, the positive role of regional countries in sustaining sustainable peace and security, and the need to expand discussion mechanisms to alleviate tensions and prevent the escalation of crises.

Based on a statement from the Turkish president’s office, President Erdogan told Pezeshkian that Ankara is prepared to act as a mediator between Iran and the US in order to “de-escalate” tensions.

The contact was made as Iran’s top diplomat, Abbas Araghchi, was in Istanbul for high-level discussions on bilateral relations and regional developments with Turkish officials.
