Nancy Guthrie’s Home Shows Blood Trail, Ransom Note Linked to NBC Anchor Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Mother

Three days have passed since Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of NBC “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, went missing from her Northern Tucson, Arizona home, and authorities are still searching for her whereabouts. According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Nancy was abducted between Saturday, January 31, 2026, and Sunday, February 1, 2026. Recent developments have raised new concerns, as traces of blood were discovered at her residence along with an alleged ransom note.

Investigators shared video footage showing what appears to be drops of blood on the front steps of Nancy Guthrie’s house, alongside a Ring camera removed from the front door. While the source of the blood remains unknown, the discovery, coupled with a suspicious note, has intensified the investigation. A CBS News reporter stated: “They did find a bit of blood inside the home. It’s still unclear whose blood it is. Then our cameras this afternoon captured what appears to be a small amount of blood outside the front door. The department is now aggressively following hundreds of leads in this case.”

The alleged ransom note reportedly demanded millions in Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy’s safe return, providing personal details about her home and describing what she was wearing the night she went missing. Sheriff Chris Nanos emphasized that investigators are treating all leads seriously: “We are aware of reports circulating about possible ransom note(s) regarding the investigation into Nancy Guthrie. We are taking all tips and leads very seriously. Anything that comes in, goes directly to our detectives who are coordinating with the FBI.”

Forensic teams have collected DNA evidence from the blood inside and outside Nancy’s home. Early results matched only Nancy herself, and surveillance footage has not yet yielded usable leads, partly due to potential looping on the CCTV system. The timing of her abduction is estimated around 2:00 AM, though investigators remain cautious about confirming this.

The investigation continues as authorities verify the note’s authenticity and follow all leads, while Savannah Guthrie, her family, and supporters remain hopeful for her safe return.
