Nancy Guthrie Went to Bed Before Abduction

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that Nancy returned home after dinner with her daughter Annie and her husband. He stated: “At 9:50 p.m. that garage door closes, because at that time we assume that Nancy’s home and probably going to bed. We know she had gone to bed.” Authorities are still trying to determine what happened after she retired for the night.

Doorbell Camera May Have Recorded Abductor

Investigators believe Nancy’s doorbell camera may have captured the abductor. Sheriff Nanos explained that there was no activity at the house until 1:47 a.m., when the camera disconnected. Although the device detected motion, the video was not saved due to the lack of a subscription plan. Authorities contacted the camera’s manufacturer, which confirmed that a detection alert was triggered at 1:47 a.m. on February 1, but no footage could be recovered. Nanos remarked: “It is concerning, it’s actually almost disappointing because you’ve got your hopes up. OK, they got an image. ‘Well, we do, but we don’t.’”

Ransom Note and Arrest

Nancy’s family reportedly received two ransom notes, prompting Savannah, Annie, and Camron Guthrie to release a video requesting proof that Nancy was safe. Authorities later arrested Derrik Callella in Hawthorne, California, in connection with sending one of the notes. Callella faces two federal charges, including transforming communications with a ransom demand and making anonymous calls with intent to harass. While investigators are still working to determine whether Callella was directly involved in the abduction, the arrest marks a significant development in the case.
