Brian Elliott, a 33-year-old officer with the Beech Grove Police Department, died after being shot while responding to a disturbance on Diplomat Court. Both officers were taken to Eskenazi Hospital, where Elliott later succumbed to his injuries.
Beech Grove Police Chief Michael Maurice confirmed Elliott’s death and expressed condolences to his family, including his wife Erin, parents, and loved ones. He described Elliott as a dedicated officer who had always wanted to serve his community.
The second officer who was injured in the shooting is expected to survive, police said.
