Brazilian Footballer Kathleen Souza Converts to Islam, Performs Umrah in Makkah

Brazilian women’s footballer Kathleen Souza has embraced Islam, drawing widespread attention across social media following her announcement. She is currently a player for Al Nassr Women in Saudi Arabia.

According to international media reports, the club officially confirmed Souza’s conversion. The management extended prayers for her steadfastness and inner peace as she begins a new chapter in her spiritual journey.

After accepting Islam, Souza traveled to Masjid al-Haram, where she performed Umrah. Sharing photos on Instagram, she stated that she had been searching for the right path and wanted to become a better version of herself.

The 29-year-old defender was born in São Vicente, São Paulo, Brazil, and plays as a central back. Prior to joining Al Nassr Women in August 2024 on a two-season contract, she represented Santos FC Women. She also played collegiate football in the United States for the University of Louisville and the University of Central Florida.

Recently, she was honored with the Player of the Month award by her current club.
