Royal Rift: The Real Reason Kate Didn’t Stop Harry

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit their roles as senior working royals in 2020 for a life in America.

Duke and Duchess announced they would quit royal duties and “work to become financially independent” while continuing to support the Royal Family.

Their declaration led to debates with senior monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II, which resulted in an agreement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would no longer carry out official royal duties.

Excerpts from the new book were released in The Mirror, and revealed details about Prince William’s true feelings about the highly publicized exit of his younger brother Harry.

In his new book, “William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story,” Russell Myers, discusses “Catherine had less interest than her husband in trying to persuade Harry to stay in his current role,” Myers writes, according to The Mirror, which obtained an excerpt from the book.

While Prince, William took Harry’s leaving very hard and was “intensely saddened” by his brother’s decision, according to Myers.

“He and Harry had been drifting apart for years, but now he knew deep down that there would be no turning back,” he wrote.

The author added, “Fond memories of their childhood, from helping each other through the tragedy of their mother’s death, to growing up in the public eye, were now tarnished by the division at the heart of the family.”

According to the author, Kate also allegedly believed Harry and Meghan had an “agenda” as their increasingly “difficult” behaviour departed from the royal values William and Kate embodied after their wedding in 2018.

“She believed William and Harry’s fundamental differences as the ‘heir and the spare’ had created the inevitability of Harry wanting more from his role than being a bit-part player,” Myers noted.

The extract continues: “A source said: ‘She (Catherine) was very clear that any engagement with Harry or Meghan should be with the utmost of caution because it was obvious that they weren’t to be trusted.'”
