Public holidays announced on February 25, 26: All schools, offices to remain closed

KUWAIT CITY – February 23, 2026: The government of Kuwait has announced a two-day public holiday on February 25 and 26 to celebrate the country’s 65th National Day and 35th Liberation Day.

The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah.

Schools and Government Offices to Remain Closed

According to the official announcement, all government ministries, public institutions, and educational centers will remain closed on:

  • Wednesday, February 25

  • Thursday, February 26

Kuwait already observes Friday and Saturday as the official weekend. This means citizens will enjoy a four-day long break.

Government offices will reopen on Sunday, March 1.

Significance of Kuwait National Day

Kuwait National Day is celebrated every year on February 25. The day marks Kuwait’s independence and the leadership of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, who played a key role in shaping the modern state.
