US Labels Iran a “State Sponsor of Wrongful Detention”

The United States has officially designated Iran as a country that unjustly detains foreign nationals. In a series of statements, Senator Marco Rubio demanded that Iran cease the detention of foreign citizens and immediately release all American captives.

Senator Rubio warned that the United States would take additional measures if Iran does not halt these practices. He further cautioned that American citizens should avoid traveling to Iran, and urged those currently in the country to evacuate immediately.
