Who Was the Man Arrested Outside Nancy Guthrie’s Home? DUI Charges and Release Details Explained
Fresh developments have once again drawn national attention to the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who vanished from her Catalina Foothills residence nearly a month ago. Investigators continue working to piece together what happened the night she went missing, while also addressing a separate arrest that occurred outside her home under unusual circumstances.
Who Was the Man Arrested Outside Her Home?
According to NewsNation correspondent Brian Entin, an unidentified man was seen driving slowly past Nancy’s Tucson-area property late on February 26, 2026. Witnesses claimed the vehicle circled the home repeatedly — reportedly between 50 and 100 times — and slowed down near a memorial set up outside the residence. Members of the media stationed nearby described the behavior as suspicious.
Concerns escalated after a photographer reported spotting Nancy’s photo on the man’s phone.
The individual was later identified as 34-year-old Antonio De Jesus Pena-Campos, who was seen driving a blue vehicle in the area. Describing the unusual activity, Entin said:
“It’s probably nothing, but, like, it is weird. There are some, just like some creepy people that come by. Some weird people show up out here. There’s this guy in this car right here who literally drove by like 50 to 100 times, very slowly. It was just weird. He would go right by the memorial [outside of Nancy’s home], and he just kept stopping, literally 50 to 100 times tonight.”
Authorities later took Pena-Campos into custody after he reportedly failed a roadside sobriety test. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed in an email statement that he was charged with misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Officials emphasized that the arrest is not connected to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
As a misdemeanor DUI suspect, Pena-Campos would typically be eligible for release on bail or citation following standard processing procedures.
Search for Nancy Guthrie Continues
The arrest comes as the search for Nancy enters its fourth week. Chris Nanos previously stated that evidence found inside the home suggests she may have been taken against her will between 12:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on February 1, 2026.
Surveillance footage released earlier by the Federal Bureau of Investigation showed a masked man carrying a backpack near the property during the suspected timeframe of the disappearance. The individual was estimated to be between 5’9” and 5’10” tall.
Authorities and the Guthrie family are offering a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy’s recovery. To date, investigators have received more than 1,600 tips.
Will Savannah Guthrie Return to New York?
As the case unfolds, attention has also turned to Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie. The Today show co-host has remained in Arizona for several weeks to support her family and stay close to the investigation.
However, reports suggest she may soon return to New York City. According to a source cited by Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, Savannah “gave Arizona everything she had” and may now be seeking stability for her children back home. While no official confirmation has been made regarding her return, Variety reported that she is expected to eventually resume her role on the Today show.
Meanwhile, the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance remains active as law enforcement continues to pursue all available leads.
