Moscow Urges Pakistan and Afghanistan to End Border Clashes

MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has expressed deep concern over the ongoing fighting along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. The Ministry noted that the sharp escalation of armed clashes in the Pashtun tribal areas has involved the use of regular army units, aircraft, and heavy weaponry.

Casualties have been confirmed on both sides, with the conflict significantly affecting the local civilian population and Afghan refugees.

“We call on both Kabul and Islamabad to renounce this dangerous military confrontation and return to the negotiating table,” the statement read. Russia urged both nations to resolve their differences through political and diplomatic dialogue based on mutual respect and restraint.
