UN Experts Condemn US-Israel Attack on Iran, Call It Violation of International Law

05 March, 2026 10:35

March 5, 2026: United Nations human rights experts have strongly criticized the military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran. The experts described the attacks as an unlawful act of aggression that violates international law and the principles of the United Nations.

UN Experts Say Attacks Violate UN Charter

According to UN human rights specialists, the military action by the United States and Israel breaches Article 2 of the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force against sovereign nations.

The experts said the attacks were launched without approval from the UN Security Council and during a period when diplomatic negotiations were still ongoing.

They explained that such actions violate several important international principles. These include sovereign equality, territorial integrity, and the duty to resolve disputes peacefully.

The experts also said the strikes threaten the fundamental right to life under international human rights law.

Military Action Not a Solution to Nuclear Dispute

The UN experts warned that military intervention cannot solve complex political issues such as Iran’s nuclear program.

They said such actions could worsen tensions across the Middle East. According to them, repeated unilateral moves by the US and Israel are destabilizing the region and increasing humanitarian suffering.

School Attack in Minab Kills Dozens of Children

The experts also condemned a deadly strike on a primary school in the southern Iranian city of Minab.

Reports say the attack killed more than 165 people, including at least 110 children, and left many others injured.

They described the attack as a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

Hospitals and Civilian Areas Targeted

The UN experts expressed concern about attacks on medical facilities and densely populated areas.

They specifically mentioned strikes on hospitals such as Gandhi Hospital and Khatam al-Anbia Hospital in Tehran.

They also noted damage to facilities operated by the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

According to the experts, attacks on civilians, schools, and hospitals are serious breaches of international humanitarian law and human rights law.

Call for Immediate End to the Conflict

The UN specialists urged all parties involved to immediately stop the violence. They warned that ordinary civilians are suffering the most from the ongoing conflict.

The experts stressed that dialogue and diplomacy are the only sustainable ways to resolve disputes.

Iran Responds With Missile and Drone Strikes

After the attacks, Iran launched retaliatory strikes against Israeli targets and US military assets in the region.

The Iranian response included missile and drone attacks targeting areas in Israeli-controlled territories and other strategic locations.

Concern Over Israeli Attacks in Lebanon

The UN experts also raised concerns about Israeli military operations in Lebanon.

They said these strikes violate international law and the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the resistance group Hezbollah.

According to the experts, the attacks have caused civilian deaths, injuries, and large-scale displacement.

Growing Regional Tensions

Analysts warn that the conflict could expand further if diplomatic efforts fail. The situation has already raised fears of a broader regional war in the Middle East.

The UN experts repeated their demand for an immediate ceasefire and renewed diplomatic negotiations to prevent further humanitarian tragedy.
