Iran Rejects Foreign Interference in Leadership Succession
TEHRAN — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has issued a firm statement asserting Iran’s sovereignty regarding the selection of its new Supreme Leader, emphasizing that no foreign interference will be tolerated.
“It is the exclusive right of the Iranian people to choose their new leader,” Araqchi stated, adding that the succession process is an internal matter in which no outside party has any standing. He further assured the public that the Iranian government—including the president’s office, the cabinet, the parliament, and other political institutions—remains fully functional and is operating as usual.
Addressing the ongoing hostilities, the Foreign Minister accused Israel and the United States of violating the ceasefire established after last year’s 12-day conflict. While calling for a permanent end to the war, Araqchi signaled that the nation is prepared for a protracted struggle. “We will continue fighting for the sake of our people and our national security,” he declared.
