An overnight airstrike by Israel targeted a vehicle in the al-Jnah area of Beirut, according to reports from regional media. Warplanes were also seen flying at low altitude over Lebanon during the operation.
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health confirmed that the strike hit a car in the area and resulted in one fatality. Emergency teams were dispatched to the scene shortly after the explosion.
Earlier, Israeli forces carried out two additional strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs. Fighter jets reportedly continued flying over Lebanese airspace before launching another attack later in the night.
The latest incident is part of a broader escalation as Israeli forces continue military operations across several regions in Lebanon. On Thursday, an Israeli strike also targeted the Faculty of Sciences at the Lebanese University in the Hadath area, reportedly killing faculty director Hussein Bazzi and Mortada Srour.
Israeli warplanes also struck a building in Beirut’s Bashoura district and another in Zoqaq al-Blat, in addition to several raids across the southern suburbs of the capital. Other attacks were reported in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, causing additional casualties.
Death Toll Continues to Rise
According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, the total number of people killed since the escalation began on March 2 has reached 687. The strikes have targeted areas in Beirut, its southern suburbs, and multiple towns across Lebanon.
Officials reported that 68 people were killed and 145 others wounded on March 11 alone as airstrikes intensified across the country.
One of the deadliest attacks occurred in the town of Tbnine in the Bint Jbeil district, where at least eight civilians were killed in a single strike. In the Bekaa Valley town of Shaath, a residential house was hit, leaving four people dead and three injured.
In another early-morning attack in Beirut, an airstrike hit a residential apartment in the Aicha Bakkar area, killing four people, including children.
Hezbollah Responds with Rocket Attacks
Meanwhile, fighters from Hezbollah said they launched rockets toward Israeli military positions near the al‑Manara site and targeted Israeli troop gatherings south of Khiam.
Hezbollah also reported striking the newly established Blat position in southern Lebanon with artillery shells.
Clashes have intensified along the Lebanon-Israel border, with Hezbollah fighters saying they are defending border towns from Israeli advances as airstrikes and ground operations continue in the region.
