Pezeshkian Says Iran Won’t Back Down From Aggression in Phone Call With Macron
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told French President Emmanuel Macron that Iran “does not hesitate” to combat aggressors, reaffirming the Islamic Republic’s unflinching commitment to protecting its territorial integrity and national security.
Pezeshkian described the scope of continued illegal US and Israeli aggression against Iran in a phone call late Sunday, stressing that the aggressors are still attacking a variety of targets, including civilian facilities.
The president emphasized that recent attacks on two Iranian islands, Kharg Island and Abu Musa Island, were carried out from the territory of many Persian Gulf nations.
“These attacks have been carried out using the territory of some Persian Gulf countries,” Pezeshkian said. “Placing land and facilities at America’s disposal for brutal attacks against Iran conflicts with international law and the principle of good neighborliness.”
Iran has never wanted conflict or tension, but Pezeshkian stressed that its reaction to aggression will be forceful.
He declared, “The Iranian people, government, and armed forces have never sought conflict or tension, but we have no hesitation in confronting aggressors and in the decisive and legitimate defense of our territorial integrity and national security, backed by popular support and relying on national capabilities.”
The Zionist regime’s hostile acts, the atrocities in Gaza and Lebanon, and the start of two imposed wars against Iran with US involvement were all cited by the Iranian president as the primary sources of instability and insecurity in the region.
He called on some European nations to uphold international law and the rule of law worldwide, criticizing their destructive approach to supporting the crimes committed in the region by the US and the Israeli state.
For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron stressed the need to put an end to the conflict and lower tensions.
He voiced concern about the continuous battle between Israel and Hezbollah, the existing state of affairs in the Strait of Hormuz, and the worsening situation in the area.
The discussion takes place while the three-week-old US-Israeli war on Iran, which began on February 28, shows no signs of abating.
Iran has continuously insisted that its retaliatory actions, which only target Israeli and American military installations while avoiding damage to civilian infrastructure in nearby nations, are lawful self-defense under international law.
Iranian officials have issued repeated warnings that any nation that permits strikes on Iran by giving US military access to its territory or facilities will be seen to be participating in aggression and will face the proper repercussions under international law.
