Iran says US repeats same ‘big lie’ to justify illegal war
Iran has said that American officials are constantly repeating the “big lie” about Iran’s alleged “attempts to secure nuclear weapons” to justify what it calls an illegal war against the country.
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, people in the United States, the Middle East, Europe, and around the world should understand that this is a “barbaric and unreasonable act of aggression” with no logical, moral, or legal basis.
“This is an unjust war, which cannot be sold to the world through repeating lies nor can it be justified by unfounded excuses,” he wrote in a post on X.
Iran also claimed that the United States and Israel have been carrying out an unprovoked war against Iran since February 28. It said the conflict has caused the deaths of many people, including Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, senior military officials, and civilians.
In response, Iranian Armed Forces have launched retaliatory attacks. These include missile strikes and drone attacks on US bases in the region and Israeli positions.
Baghaei’s statement came after comments by Karoline Leavitt, who repeated US claims that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, Joseph Kent, director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, resigned earlier this week in protest. He said Iran did not pose an immediate threat to the United States and claimed the war was started due to pressure from Tel Aviv.
“I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed not imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby,” Kent said in his resignation letter.
However, in response to his remarks, Leavitt again repeated US allegations against Iran’s nuclear program.
