Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Strong Message on Landmark US Trial

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are speaking out after a Los Angeles trial against Google and Meta in a landmark case regarding social media addiction.

On Wednesday, the platforms were negligent in a lawsuit brought by a young woman who argued their design caused harm while she was growing up.

The trial verdict was announced to pay $3 million in compensation for harming the anonymous plaintiff, and Meta responsible for the majority share. Additional also expected punitive damages are yet to be decided.

Harry and Meghan addresses the court decision against the companies  “This verdict is a reckoning.”

Moreover, the couple told People “For too long, families have paid the price for platforms built with total disregard for the children they reach.”

“We stand with every parent and young person who refused to be silenced. Today, the truth has been heard and precedent has been set.”

Duke and Duchess of Sussex believed the judgement is a big moment due to the shift in liability for tech companies.

They pointed out how design choices and business models was “weaponised” and protection and transparency were “sacrificed for engagement”.
