Iran’s President Pezeshkian Calls Lebanon Ceasefire Central to 10-Point Peace Proposal

Iran’s President Pezeshkian Calls Lebanon Ceasefire Central to 10-Point Peace Proposal
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that a ceasefire in Lebanon remains a central condition of Iran’s 10-point ceasefire proposal, designed to halt unprovoked aggression in the region.
Speaking with French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, Pezeshkian stated that the attacks by the Israeli regime, which killed hundreds in Lebanon, violated the proposal despite US President Donald Trump calling it “workable” for negotiations.
During the call, Pezeshkian stressed that cessation of aggression towards Lebanon is “one of the central conditions of Iran’s proposal.” He highlighted France’s significant role, noting that Paris had previously helped guarantee a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah in 2024.
“Iran remains committed to promoting peace, stability, and security,” the president said, underlining Tehran’s responsible approach and willingness to resolve disputes through diplomacy.
Pezeshkian criticized Europe for failing to take a firm stance on the atrocities committed by the US and Israeli forces, urging European nations to pressure aggressors to honor their commitments.
The president also addressed security in the Strait of Hormuz, calling the instability there “the direct result of US-Israeli military aggression against Iran.” He reaffirmed that reopening the strategic waterway depends on the cessation of ongoing attacks.
Macron described the ceasefire announcement as “an important step towards fully ending the war and establishing lasting peace,” calling for an end to violence in Lebanon and offering France’s cooperation in promoting regional security. He also thanked Iran for releasing two French citizens previously detained in the country.
