Prince Harry Leaves Royal Family After Royal Ultimatum
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved away from royal duties in January 2020. They said the decision was because of a “really difficult environment,” including alleged racism and little support.
Royal historian Hugo Vickers says Harry had hoped to stay part of royal life. He wanted a “half-in, half-out” arrangement where he could work for the royal family but also be financially independent. After a meeting at Sandringham in early 2020 with the Queen’s secretaries, Harry was told it was “all in or all out.” This directed Harry and Meghan to spend Christmas out of the country and ultimately move to Canada.
Duke and Duchess of Suxxesses announced in June 2020, that they were stepped back as senior royals to become financially independent while still supporting Queen Elizabeth II. Later, the couple moved to California with their children, Prince Archie., Princess Lilibet.
Queen Elizabeth answered reverently, saying she chosen they stay full-time but understood their wish for independence.
Since leaving, Harry and Meghan have returned to the UK only a few times, including for the Queen’s funeral. Not only Queen’s funeral, Meghan visited UK a few time.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have been visited UK only once, in 2022 for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee event. Also, the couple left their, Frogmore Cottage former home, following the issue of Harry’s memoir, Spare, which triggered a stimulation.
Harry and Meghan’s choice a mix of family loyalty and desire for freedom.
