Iran seeks reparations from six Arab states over US-Israeli conflict

01 May, 2026 13:54

The Iranian ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations has once again called for accountability against countries involved in what Iran describes as unjustified US-Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.

Amir-Saeid Iravani made these remarks in a letter sent to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council on Thursday. His response came after six Arab countries — including Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Jordan — sent letters to the UN regarding Iran.

He said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran reiterates once again its clear and consistent position that all States whose internationally wrongful acts have played a role in the United States’ and the Israeli regime’s aggression against its sovereignty and territorial integrity must be held accountable.”

Iravani also stated that Gulf countries must provide full compensation for material and moral damage caused by their actions.

He warned that global peace is at risk because the UN Security Council has not properly addressed what Iran calls illegal attacks by the US and Israel, along with support from other countries.

He rejected claims made by the six Arab states, calling them false and misleading. He said they wrongly blamed Iran for the conflict, even though Iran was the target of attacks that killed over 3,375 people and damaged more than 125,630 civilian buildings.

The ambassador also said that even if attacks did not come directly from these countries, it still shows that US and Israeli forces operated from bases located in their territories.

He pointed to remarks by US CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper, who praised Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan as “exceptional teammates.”

Iravani added that the Security Council’s failure to support Iran’s right to self-defense does not take away that right under international law.

He said the conflict began on February 28 with airstrikes that killed senior Iranian officials. He also said Iran responded with 100 waves of strikes against US and Israeli targets in the region.

A ceasefire was later brokered by Pakistan on April 8, but negotiations between Tehran and Washington did not reach any agreement. Talks remain stalled due to disagreements over demands and security concerns.
