New Military Partnership in Middle East After Iran-US War as Pakistan Being Mediator

According to the Indian diplomat, the Saudi-Pakistan agreement is an attempt to fill the security vacuum created by the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran.
The arrival of fresh Pakistani army troops in Saudi Arabia under the strategic mutual defense agreement signed between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in September 2025 has caught the attention of international observers.
The troops arrived at the King Abdulaziz Air Base in the Eastern Province. Renowned Indian diplomat Talmiz Ahmed, who has served as ambassador to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, sees the agreement in a historical context.
According to Talmiz Ahmed’s analysis, the timing of this recent agreement is crucial. When Israel attacked Doha, it was a message to all Gulf Cooperation Council countries that Israel considers itself the ruler of the region and that no state is safe. This sense of insecurity forced the Gulf countries to look for new options for their defense.
He said that while Qatar sought a defense agreement with the United States, Saudi Arabia has entered into a mutual defense agreement with its long-standing and reliable friend Pakistan.
This agreement shows that the Gulf countries are no longer willing to rely solely on false promises of protection from Washington or Israel for their security.
This bilateral agreement is now taking the form of a quadrilateral platform. Pakistan recently convened a meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia in Islamabad, which is the first step towards the formation of a new security architecture.
As soon as the current war ends and a ceasefire is in place, this group will be expanded to include more members to establish a permanent regional security fence, with Pakistan’s experienced military structure playing the role of the backbone.
