Iran President Pezeshkian Calls for ‘Dignified Framework’ to End Middle East War

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to reaching a sustainable and honorable resolution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, declaring that the Islamic Republic is fully prepared to engage in a “dignified framework” to bring lasting peace to the region.

In a Tuesday phone call with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Pezeshkian underscored that Iran has consistently demonstrated good faith and a genuine commitment to diplomatic dialogue throughout the crisis. According to a statement released by the president’s media office, Pezeshkian stressed that the moment of accountability has arrived for the opposing parties.

During the call, the Iranian president extended his appreciation to Qatar for its sustained and constructive role in peace efforts, praising in particular the Emir’s personal involvement in steering diplomatic progress. In response, Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed Doha’s unwavering position in support of peace and security across the region, pledging that Qatar would continue to serve as an active mediator without reservation.

The backdrop to these diplomatic exchanges is the armed conflict that erupted on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran — strikes that, according to Tehran, claimed the lives of senior officials and commanders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. In the weeks that followed, Iran’s armed forces conducted what the country described as 100 waves of retaliatory strikes against American and Israeli targets across the region.

A ceasefire brokered by Pakistan took effect on April 8, forty days into the conflict, temporarily halting active hostilities between Iran and the United States. Since then, both sides have engaged in intermittent negotiations aimed at transforming the ceasefire into a permanent end to the war.
