Prince William’s New Data Lab Aims to Fight Homelessness in UK

Prince William’s Work to Address Homelessness:

For so many years, the future king of Britain Prince William has been working to Address Homelessness and it remains a cause he is deeply passionate about. More recently, he has also made a notable financial move that many think could make a real difference.

Sale of Duchy of Cornwall Assets:

As part of this move, he decided to sell more than 20% of the Duchy of Cornwall land, around 128,000 acres in total, for about £500 million.

Launch of Data Lab Initiative:

More recently, the Prince launched a Data Lab project focused on using data in a responsible and ethical way to better understand social issues like homelessness.

Bringing Experts Together:

He also brought together a panel of experts, including Salesforce UK and Ireland CEO Zahra Bahrololoumi, to discuss how data can be used effectively. The discussion was hosted by Jeff Humphrey, according to reports.

Bahrololoumi said the Data Lab helps ensure information is used properly and responsibly, adding that it is important to protect human dignity while working with data.

How the Data Lab Works:

One key part of the initiative involves analysing anonymised banking data from around 5.4 million NatWest customers. This data is then combined with census information to identify areas in Scotland where people may be at higher risk of homelessness.
