Trump says Strait of Hormuz fully open, warns Iran to follow agreement
US President Donald Trump has said that the Strait of Hormuz is now fully open, adding that Iran is taking positive steps regarding the key maritime route.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said that maritime traffic in the vital shipping passage is being restored and the overall situation is moving in a positive direction.
He also issued a warning to Iran, saying that the United States will not hesitate to take necessary actions if Tehran fails to comply with any agreement. He added that as long as Iran respects the United States, there will be no major problems or conflict between the two countries.
Trump further said that Iran is expected to agree to large-scale inspections of its weapons program and may also accept long-term transparency measures regarding its nuclear activities.
He reiterated that Iran will not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, adding that diplomatic efforts are continuing to achieve this goal.
