China Urges End to Unilateral Sanctions on Iran Following Ceasefire Agreement

China has called for the lifting of unilateral sanctions on Iran following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington on June 18. The agreement is intended to pave the way for a permanent end to the conflict that Iranian officials say began in late February following military action by the United States and Israel.

The memorandum was reached after weeks of diplomatic negotiations and heightened regional tensions. Iranian officials said the agreement followed what they described as the country’s military response to sporadic U.S. attacks that allegedly continued despite a ceasefire between the two sides.

Beijing reiterated its support for resolving disputes through dialogue and urged the international community to remove unilateral sanctions on Iran, emphasizing that diplomatic engagement and regional stability should remain the priority following the ceasefire agreement.
