Tielemans Penalty Seals Stunning Belgium Comeback Against Senegal

Youri Tielemans scored a late penalty in extra time as Belgium produced a remarkable comeback to defeat Senegal in a dramatic World Cup last-32 clash. The win secured Belgium’s place in the last 16, where they will face either the United States or Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Rudi Garcia’s side appeared to be heading out of the tournament after falling two goals behind against an impressive Senegal team, with only minutes remaining in regular time. The situation looked increasingly bleak as Senegal controlled much of the contest.
However, Belgium found a lifeline when substitute Romelu Lukaku flicked in Thomas Meunier’s cross to reduce the deficit. The momentum shifted further in the 89th minute when Leandro Trossard delivered a cross that was missed by goalkeeper Mory Diaw, allowing captain Tielemans to head home the equaliser and force extra time.
Belgium carried that momentum into the extra period and were eventually awarded a penalty, which Tielemans calmly converted to complete the comeback. The dramatic victory keeps Belgium’s World Cup hopes alive after what had seemed like certain elimination.
