04 July, 2026 15:04

Social media platforms were flooded with tributes on Friday as political activists, journalists, public figures, and officials from several countries reflected on the legacy of Iran’s Martyred Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, ahead of official farewell ceremonies in Tehran. The online reactions coincided with preparations for the mourning events scheduled for July 4 and 5.

Iranian authorities said the ceremonies are expected to draw large crowds, with foreign dignitaries and official delegations attending alongside mourners from across the country. State media reported that millions of people were expected to participate in the commemorative events held in the Iranian capital.

Among those paying tribute was American writer and activist Shaun King, who wrote on X that he had hoped to meet Ayatollah Khamenei and described him as “utterly fearless” and a defender of his people. His post was one of many messages shared online by supporters and public figures expressing condolences and reflecting on the late Iranian leader’s influence.
