Taliban Minister Says Afghanistan and India Share the Same ‘DNA’

Afghanistan’s Taliban-appointed Agriculture Minister, Maulvi Ataullah Omari, said during a visit to New Delhi that he felt at home in India and described Afghanistan and India as sharing the same “DNA.”

According to The Economic Times, Omari said, “I never felt that I was in a foreign country. It felt like I was in our own country.” He also said that Afghanistan and India have the same “DNA.”

The remarks have drawn criticism from some analysts, who say the statement reflects close ties between India and the Taliban administration.

Some analysts also claimed the comments support their view that India and Afghanistan play a key role in activities affecting Pakistan’s security.

They further alleged that the Taliban administration has remained silent on issues involving Muslims in Kashmir and Palestine while strengthening relations with India.

Some commentators also argued that the statement about sharing the same “DNA” reflects growing ideological and political closeness between Afghanistan, India, and Israel.
