China Tried to Defeat Me and Stole Data of 220 Million Americans: Trump

17 July, 2026 15:35

US President Donald Trump has claimed that the American election system faces serious security risks and accused China of stealing the personal data of 220 million US voters.

Speaking from the White House, Trump briefly discussed the conflict with Iran, saying the United States and Israel are in a strong position and that the world will soon see the results of their efforts.

He then focused on US election security, saying major weaknesses had been found ahead of the upcoming midterm elections and must be fixed.

Trump announced that key intelligence documents would be released. He claimed China illegally obtained the names, addresses, and political affiliations of 220 million American voters and tried to influence the 2020 presidential election to prevent him from returning to office.

He also alleged that the Department of Homeland Security found 278,000 people on US voter rolls who were not American citizens.

Trump further claimed that an alleged fake voter registration case in Michigan’s Muskegon County during the 2020 election was covered up by federal officials and the Biden administration’s Justice Department. He said he had directed the FBI director to take strict action against those involved.

China rejected all of Trump’s allegations, calling them baseless and saying it does not interfere in the internal affairs or elections of other countries.

Michigan election officials also denied Trump’s claims and said the state’s election system is secure.
