Saudi Arabia Appoints Dr. Rajeh bin Tami Al-Baqmi as New Ambassador to Pakistan

Saudi Arabia has appointed Dr. Rajeh bin Tami Al-Baqmi as its new ambassador to Pakistan. He is expected to arrive in Islamabad soon to assume his diplomatic responsibilities. Following his appointment, Dr. Al-Baqmi took the oath of office before Mohammed bin Salman on behalf of Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The ceremony was attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

A retired major general, Dr. Al-Baqmi brings extensive diplomatic and security experience to the role, having served in several important overseas assignments during his career. His background in international relations, regional security, and bilateral cooperation is expected to support the continued expansion of ties between Riyadh and Islamabad.

His appointment comes as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue to strengthen cooperation in defence, investment, energy, security, and economic development through frequent high-level engagements. Analysts believe Dr. Al-Baqmi’s appointment will further deepen the longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries, enhance defence collaboration, and encourage greater Saudi investment. He succeeds Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki as Saudi Arabia’s envoy to Pakistan.
