Eight Terror-Linked Operatives Arrested in Southeast Iran: IRGC
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has arrested eight armed suspects linked to terrorist groups during special operations in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
According to the IRGC, the suspects had formed armed groups to create unrest and carry out sabotage activities. They are accused of kidnapping engineers and workers involved in development projects, attacking military and police personnel, carrying out armed robberies, and spreading fear in the province.
The arrests were made through intelligence-based operations, and security forces also seized a cache of weapons and ammunition.
The IRGC said the suspects worked with terrorist groups to kidnap people and hand them over to militants operating across the border.
Sistan and Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has faced several militant attacks in recent years. Iranian authorities say security forces continue operations to maintain peace and stability in the region.
