US Ready to Honor Commitments Again, Says Iran’s Deputy FM

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has said Iran and Oman have reached a preliminary agreement on a new maritime route through the Strait of Hormuz.

He said preparations for the temporary shipping route have been completed, with most of the route passing through Iranian territorial waters. Once the plan is implemented, the current temporary routes will be closed.

Gharibabadi said Iran has linked the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to the United States fulfilling its commitments. He added that Iran and Oman held three weeks of negotiations over the plan.

According to Gharibabadi, Iran has received signals that the United States is ready to honor its commitments again. Reports also suggest that, following the Iran-Oman agreement, a new US-Iran deal could be finalized in the coming days.
