Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye Form Joint Defence Pact Amid Rising Middle East Tensions

The three Muslim nations, amid growing regional challenges, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiy signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement to improve coordination on security matters and reinforce collective defence efforts in the region.

The Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit seen the signing of the defence agreement in the manifestation of Saudi Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The pact forms that violence against any one of the three nations will be viewed as an attack on the full cooperation. The deal pursues to improve military support, increasing defence bonds, and guarantee a coordinated response to emerging threats.

The agreement comes against the backdrop of increasing Middle East tensions, with the US-Israel conflict involving Iran creating security challenges and disrupting key maritime routes.

Pakistan has gained international attention during the conflict due to its role in facilitating communication between the United States and Iran. The Foreign Office said the agreement reflects the three countries’ shared commitment to promoting peace, stability and security in the region.

Experts said the agreement marks a major step towards collective security and stronger defence ties among influential Muslim nations. And believe the pact shows a stronger commitment among regional nations to tackle security challenges through cooperation and collective action.

The agreement also expands existing defence ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, who signed a mutual defence agreement last year. Analysts believe the new partnership could play an important role in addressing regional security challenges and promoting stability across the Muslim world.
