Iran Condemns Israeli Claims Over Occupied Golan Heights

TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned recent claims by Israeli officials regarding the occupied Golan Heights, reaffirming that the strategic territory remains an inseparable part of Syria. In a statement issued Thursday, the ministry rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s assertion that the Golan Heights would remain under Israeli control “for eternity” and criticized his opposition to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said the Palestinian people have the right to determine their own future and that Israeli policies cannot alter the legal status of Palestinian territory. It also stressed that “the Golan Heights are an inseparable part of the territory of Syria,” arguing that what it described as colonial and occupation policies cannot change the territory’s historical and legal status.
Iran also condemned Colombia’s reported recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, describing the move as contrary to the UN Charter and international law. The ministry said recognition of the consequences of what it considers unlawful acts violates the principles of state sovereignty and territorial integrity and could entail international responsibility for the Colombian government.
