France Expels Iranian Cultural Attaché Amid Rising Diplomatic Tensions

France has expelled Niloufar Shadmehri, Iran’s cultural attache in Paris, amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Paris. During her tenure, Shadmehri organized Iranian and Islamic art exhibitions and cultural events aimed at presenting what she described as a more accurate image of Iran and countering what she viewed as biased portrayals of the country.

Shadmehri had previously gained recognition for her book Ambassador’s Memoirs (Khaterehat-e Safir), which chronicles the experiences of an Iranian Muslim woman living in France. The book also attracted the attention of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Her expulsion comes against the backdrop of worsening diplomatic relations between Iran and France, adding another strain to already tense ties between the two countries.
