Iran Rejects Trump’s Pickaxe Mountain Claim, Oman Regional Meeting Postponed at Saudi Request

TEHRAN: Iran has rejected reports of new activity at Pickaxe Mountain (Kolang Kuh), dismissing US President Donald Trump’s recent warning about developments at the site as unfounded.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said there was no truth to reports of new activity at Pickaxe Mountain.

Trump had said last week that Washington was monitoring activity at the site and warned Iran to exercise caution over any developments there.

Pickaxe Mountain Remains Under US Scrutiny

Pickaxe Mountain has emerged as a site of growing US concern because of its proximity to Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure.

Trump has previously threatened possible US military action against the area, making his latest remarks another point of tension between Washington and Tehran.

Iran, however, has rejected the reports and said there was no new activity at the location as described by the US president.

Oman Meeting Postponed at Saudi Request

Meanwhile, Iran said a planned meeting between Tehran and Gulf countries in Oman has also been postponed.

According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Saudi Arabia requested the postponement of the meeting.

Reuters reported that the gathering was expected to address regional issues, including the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, as tensions continue to affect maritime traffic and energy supplies.

Oman also confirmed the postponement, saying the decision was intended to create a more favourable environment for reaching consensus among the participating countries.

No new date has yet been announced for the meeting.

Diplomatic Efforts Face Growing Pressure

The postponement comes as the security situation around the Strait of Hormuz remains tense, with disruptions to shipping and uncertainty over global oil supplies adding pressure to regional diplomacy.

The proposed talks were seen as an opportunity for Gulf states and Iran to discuss regional security and maritime concerns directly.

Their delay reflects the growing difficulties facing diplomatic efforts at a time when military tensions, energy market pressures and disagreements among regional countries continue to intensify.

Iran has maintained that regional security should be addressed through dialogue among the countries of the region, while tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz remain a major concern for international shipping and energy markets.
