Iran Says US Has Received Its Conditions but Trump Is Unable to Decide

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Major General Mohsen Rezaei has said Tehran has delivered its conditions to the United States but believes President Donald Trump is unable to make a decision on whether to pursue negotiations or continue the conflict.

Rezaei made the remarks during a meeting with Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, where he discussed the latest developments involving Iran, the United States and the wider region.

According to Rezaei, Trump is caught in a difficult situation because he is neither in a position to negotiate nor willing to pursue a full-scale war. He said the United States had resorted to what he described as an aerial blockade out of frustration.

Rezaei said Iran remained prepared to contribute to peace and stability in the Caucasus but argued that the United States had no future in the region. He added that Iran was continuing to confront Washington with full force.

The Iranian official also said Tehran had expected a response from Washington on its seven-point peace proposals on Tuesday, but no formal acceptance or rejection had been communicated so far.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking before departing the United States, said Tehran’s position on its nuclear programme had not changed. He clarified that the seven-point proposals were focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Rezaei further said Iran had defended itself with full force against the United States and Israel during the conflict.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev also rejected suggestions that Azerbaijani territory had been used for operations against Iran.

The remarks come as diplomatic efforts continue between Tehran and Washington, with the status of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s nuclear programme and the possibility of a ceasefire remaining key issues in the ongoing confrontation.
