Iran Warns of Harsher Response if Enemies Resume Military Confrontation

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that Tehran would respond more forcefully if its adversaries again choose military confrontation, while stressing that the conflict cannot be resolved through military means.

Addressing a gathering of foreign ambassadors, Araghchi said there was no military solution to the conflict with the United States and that new sanctions would not resolve the dispute either.

He said Iran would defend itself with greater strength if another military confrontation was initiated against it, adding that a lasting resolution could only be achieved through negotiations based on justice and equality.

Araghchi has also emphasized Iran’s readiness for diplomacy while maintaining that Tehran remains prepared for other scenarios if diplomatic efforts fail.

Meanwhile, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Tehran was reviewing the US response to a proposal presented by Araghchi during the UN General Assembly meetings in New York concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

Gharibabadi said the proposal had been conveyed to Washington through intermediaries and that Iran was currently examining the US response. He added that if Tehran reaches a final decision, it will be communicated through the appropriate diplomatic channels.

Iran had proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if certain conditions were met. The proposal was conveyed to the United States through Qatari mediators during diplomatic contacts in New York.

US President Donald Trump rejected the proposal on September 26, saying the Iranian plan was not acceptable. Tehran subsequently continued to await a formal response through mediators, while maintaining that its conditions for reopening the strategic waterway had not changed.
