15 April, 2024 15:49

At least 212,627 accounts were recently banned on X (previously Twitter) for violating its policy, said a statement released by the company.

The banned accounts were involved in promoting illegal and harmful content.

Additionally, X took action against 1,235 accounts found to be promoting terrorism on its platform in India.

The monthly compliance report said the action against the aforementioned accounts was taken between February 26 and March 25.

It cited violations related to promoting child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity as the primary reasons for the bans.

Some of the accounts have also been banned because of users promoting terrorism on the platform. Here is everything you need to know.

“There are many measures that have been in place for a long time on our platform that relate to the mitigation of child sexual exploitation and terrorism activity. X does not tolerate any material that features or promotes child sexual exploitation. This includes media, text, illustrations, or computer-generated images,” the report stated.

“We processed 86 grievances which were appealing account suspensions. These were all resolved and the appropriate responses were sent. We overturned 7 of these account suspensions after reviewing the specifics of the situation. The remaining reported accounts remain suspended,” the report stated.
