Zalmay Khalilzad talks to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad met him on the sidelines of International Conference on “South Asia-Central Asia Regional Connectivity-Challenges and Opportunities in Tashkent on Friday.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan will continue to play its reconciliatory role for peace in Afghanistan.

The Foreign Minister said Afghanis have to decide the future of Afghanistan.

He further said Pakistan considers peace in Afghanistan essential for promotion of regional linkages and economic development in the region.

Meanwhile, delegation-level talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan held on the sidelines of the conference.

Prime Minister Imran Khan and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani are leading their respective delegations in the talks.

EU High Representative and Vice President of EU

On the sidelines of the conference, EU High Representative and Vice President of EU Josep Borrell Fontelles also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan.

In an interview, he that peace would improve our regional connectivity and links to the Central Asia.

He further said Prime Minister Imran Khan’s efforts for the purpose continue, which will succeed.

Fawad said heads of state and Foreign Ministers from different countries have gathered in Tashkhent to discuss ways to enhance regional trade and economy.
