President Asif Ali Zardari has called an emergency meeting on the current situation in Azad Kashmir.

According to the sources, the meeting will be held today at the President’s House to consider the situation of Azad Kashmir.

The sources said the president has directed all the stakeholders to bring suggestions to resolve the matter.

It should be noted that protests against expensive electricity and taxes are ongoing in Azad Kashmir. A long march from Mirpur to Muzaffarabad has been announced by the Public Action Committee against inflation and taxes.

On the call of Awami Action Committee, a complete and partial strike was conducted in different districts for the second day.

During the protests, An ASI was killed and several protesters and police personnel were injured due to the clash.

The convoys going to Muzaffarabad from different cities were still faced by the police at many places. Protesters and police came face to face in Kotli, Nikyal and Mirpur. Protesters broke the barricades and clashes erupted between the police and the protesters.

The protesters also set fire to the vehicles of many citizens including the magistrate.

On Kotli-Mirpur Road, protesters threw a policeman from a hill into a ditch.

Meanwhile, to avoid arrest, a young man jumped into Neelum River, who was shifted to the hospital in critical condition.
