In a telephonic conversation with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made it clear that India must not misjudge the current situation.

Furthermore, he urged India should not underestimate Beijing’s firm will to safeguard its territorial sovereignty.

Wang Yi demanded that India should carry out a thorough investigation into the incident and severely punish those who should be held accountable.

He further demanded that India should strictly discipline its frontline troops and immediately stop all provocative actions to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.

During the conversation, the Indian Minister for External Affairs briefed the Chinese Foreign Minister on the New Delhi’s stance on the issue.

Earlier, India admitted to have lost three soldiers in violent face off with Chinese troops.

The incident occurred during a “deescalation process” underway in the Galwan Valley in the disputed Aksai Chin-Ladakh area, CNN reported.

According to the Indian army statement, loss of life occurred on both sides.

Chinese and Indian troops clashed along the disputed but de facto border in the Himalayas late Monday.

India lost an officer and two soldiers but the statement did not specify the number of additional Chinese casualties.

It added that senior military officials from both sides are currently meeting to defuse the situation.

The large troop build up has reportedly been taking place for weeks now on both sides of the border, before senior military commanders began talks earlier this month.

He said Indian troops seriously violated our consensus and twice crossed the border line for illegal activities.

He accused India of provoking and attacking Chinese personnel which lead to serious physical conflict between the two sides.
