‘Rigged’ results: JI observes Black Day today

16 February, 2024 10:07

KARACHI: The Jamaat-e-Islami is observing a Black Day today against the alleged rigging in the recent general elections.

The decision to observe Black Day was announced by Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman.

The JI city chief was holding a press conference in Karachi. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that protests will be held at several points in the city against rigging in the election results.

He said that we have gone to the court. This is a conspiracy against Pakistan, we will not tolerate this result and forgery, he added.

Hafiz Naeemur Rahman said that MQM-P had put up banners that read ‘Thanks to Karachi’ in the city. I don’t know whom the MQM-P is thanking, he questioned.

Hafiz Naeem had said that Feb 8 elections were the worst in Pakistan’s history. Returning officers had bulldozed the mandate of masses. The company comprising MQM-P and other elements had badly failed, the JI leader said. He was of the view that people strongly rejected them.

Despite all fascist tactics, MQM-P’s vote bank has shrunk to 162,000. However, the JI received more than 800,000 votes in Karachi, said Hafiz Naeem.
