MQM-P agrees to support Zardari in presidential election

Efforts of Pakistan Muslim League- N to bring MQM-P and Pakistan People’s Party closer have borne fruits.

A meeting of coordination committee of MQM-P, held on Tuesday, discussed the contact made by PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari with Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

The meeting was informed by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui about the telephonic conversation with Asif Ali Zardari, after which it was decided to support the PPP leader in the coming presidential election. The MQM-P has agreed to vote for him in the presidential election.

The members of the coordination committee were told that the PPP has also given positive assurances of cooperation on the MQM’s constitutional amendments.

Meanwhile, the swearing-in of the Punjab Cabinet will be held today at 4 pm at Governor House Lahore. In the first phase, around 15 ministers will take oath in the Punjab Cabinet.

The nominated ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also take oath today and the swearing-in ceremony would be held at 6:30 pm at Governor House Peshawar. The governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will administer oath to the new cabinet members.

According to sources, Marriyum Aurangzeb is likely to get the ministry of planning and development and forests, while Uzma Bukhari will be made the information minister of Punjab.

They said that Khawaja Imran Nazir will be given the portfolio of primary health, food to Bilal Yasin, excise to Mujtabi Shuja and housing and sports to Faisal Ayub.
